Canadian Trainco is proud to be a member of the MTAA (Maintenance Training Association
of the Americas).
About MTAA
The Maintenance Training Association of America (MTAA) is a non-profit organization
founded in 2004. It was established to promote uniform standards of quality for
training services and products provided to professionals responsible for performing
and assuring maintenance in commercial and industrial facilities and environments.
MTAA CEU Approvals
All Canadian Trainco courses have received CEU values approved by MTAA. Any MTAA
certified organization or licensed instructor meeting any qualifying rating level
as outlined by MTAA is authorized to offer MTAA Continuing Education Units (CEU),
and to grant certification of one MTAA CEU credit hour for each 10 hours of instruction
or participation successfully completed by a participant.
The CEU as defined by The International Association for Continuing Education &
Training (IACET) is designed to provide a standard unit of measure to quantify continuing
adult education and training activities. Specifically, one CEU is equivalent to
ten contact hours of participation in organized continuing education and training
experience under responsible and qualified direction and instruction.
MTAA Certification Testing
See MTAA Tests
Many Canadian Trainco courses offer free MTAA Certification Testing, a $79.00 value
for our students. The tests are designed to measure the basic knowledge associated
with each individual test topic and most tests are based on multiple choice, true
/ false and matching questions. Students are provided with testing instructions
at the end of the course for both online testing or for paper testing. A passing
test score results in certification by the MTAA in proficiency for that topic.
Students are not required to take MTAA tests associated with the courses unless
they are seeking college credit recommendations. Students seeking college credit recommendations
for those courses that are approved must take and pass the MTAA certification exam
in addition to attending all days of course instruction.
Test scores and student information is kept on record by Canadian Trainco. Test
score information can be requested by contacting the Canadian Trainco testing administrator

FAQs
What are the MTAA tests like?
Most MTAA tests are 50 multiple questions consisting of combinations of multiple
choice, true false and matching pictures. Test content resembles the course topic,
however, there may be several questions on the MTAA test that were not covered in
the course content. Student study guides are provided for some, but not all MTAA
tests. Students may be required to do studying outside the class in order to pass
an MTAA test.
What is the purpose of the MTAA tests?
MTAA tests are designed to give some measurement of a person's knowledge on a particular
maintenance topic. Many organizations use the MTAA tests as guides for helping determine
qualifications for employees, as assessments or as pre & post measurement of
the people they send to Canadian Trainco courses. MTAA tests are also used by American
Trainco as a testing platform that is used for college credit recommendations.
Why would I want to take an MTAA test?
- Passing MTAA tests are required to get college credit for Canadian Trainco courses.
- Measured outcome of learning objectives of the class.
- Required by some organizations as part of measuring training quality.
- Helps some students in getting promotions or higher pay.
Is testing mandatory?
Passing the MTAA test is required only for those students that desire to earn college
credit through Canadian Trainco. Testing is optional for all other students.
Is testing free?
Testing is free with course registration or can be purchased separately without
course registration.
How / when are the tests taken?
Tests are taken on the student's own time after courses are complete. Students receive
instruction sheets on how to take the test online or by paper. Canadian Trainco
encourages students to take the tests online to reduce manual labor and so that
the student can get immediate feedback on their tests.
What does the student receive?
After completing the test, the student is immediately presented with their score
online and they can print their test score information at that time. In addition,
the student will be mailed a certificate and test score letter from the MTAA. For
those taking the test by paper, they will receive their test transcript and certificate
by mail a few weeks after taking the test. Transcripts for all tests taken are available
upon request.
Are test scores kept?
Test scores and student information is kept on record by Canadian Trainco. Test
score information can be requested by contacting the Canadian Trainco testing administrator.
Why is testing not done in the class?
The highest value of an instructor is instructing, not spending time proctoring
tests. We want every minute that you spend in the classroom dedicated to learning
from industry experts.
What if I want to take a paper test or doesn't have internet
connection?
Test instructions advise how to take a paper test by contacting the test administrator
at Canadian Trainco.
